Hi, I’m Anny J. Willis, a contemporary Latina artist based in Mahopac, New York

My work bridges the worlds of fine art and culinary craft. As an artist and a professional baker, I translate my years of cake decorating experience directly onto the canvas. Using piping techniques, modeling paste, heavy-body acrylics, and metallic accents, I treat the palette knife like a frosting spatula to sculpt dense, dynamic impasto paintings that lift right off the canvas.

Inspired by family history in the Dominican Republic, this vibrant, textured painting depicts a mother and daughter standing side by side. It honors a personal memory of the artist’s mother, who sold flowers as a young child alongside her own mother. Rendered in a rich, semi-abstract style with striking teal tones, scattered white blossoms, and shimmering gold patterns, the piece celebrates the enduring strength, dignity, and deep connection shared between generations of women.

Midnight Waltz

Mixed Media on Canvas (Gallery Wrapped)

Capturing a moment of whimsical movement and magic, this vibrant painting features two ruby-throated hummingbirds hovering gracefully above a cluster of deep pink blossoms. Hand-placed gems glint in the birds’ eyes, adding a brilliant, dimensional touch to their lively gaze. Set against a deep, dreamy midnight blue background, the scene is brought to life with a dusting of starry gold speckles and elegant, shimmering gold swirls. The piece beautifully reflects the delicate energy, joy, and enchanting beauty found in nature’s quiet moments.

Featuring striking layers of deep magenta and bright pink blossoms, this piece comes alive through highly textured impasto brushstrokes. Created using heavy gel medium, the sculpted petals stand out dramatically against a rich, multi-toned blue and teal background.
